“I Am Not A Cat!” Hilarious Zoom Filter Blunder Turns Lawyer Into Cute Talking Kitten

COVID’s given us few laughs, however the rise of the dreadful Zoom meeting and the live-action disasters they so often bring being the rare comedy exception.

And now a video court hearing in Texas has gone viral after one of the lawyers involved appeared as a fluffy white kitten after failing to deactivate the camera’s filter.

Presidio County Attorney Rod Ponton joined a civil forfeiture court hearing via Zoom but soon appeared as a talking feline.

Presiding judge Roy Ferguson quickly alerted Ponton of his non-human form: “Mister Ponton I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings,” he said.

Ponton said his assistant was trying to fix the settings and he was keen to continue with the hearing.

He then delivers the line of our times: “I’m here live, I’m not a cat!”

For his part, Judge Ferguson later tweeted: “IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off.”

The 69-year-old Ponton (pictured below) later revealed that he had no idea how the incident occurred.

“I logged into my secretary’s computer to appear at this hearing via Zoom, and when everybody’s ready the judge calls the case and everybody’s face is supposed to pop up on Zoom,” Ponton said. “And everybody’s face popped up except mine. Mine was a cat.”

Judge Ferguson also said the footage should not be used to “mock the lawyers, but instead to exemplify the legal community’s dedication to the cause of justice.”
