British GQ has announced former British Army officer Captain Sir Tom Moore will be honoured with the ‘Inspiration Of The Year’ award at the 23rd annual GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2020, in association with Hugo Boss.

Sir Moore, 100, will also become the oldest British GQ cover star ever to grace the magazine’s cover, with an interview of the Second World War veteran to be published for its January/February 2021 issue, which reportedly hits news stands on Friday, 4 December.

The veteran gained worldwide acclaim after walking 100 laps of his garden in support of Britain’s National Health Service, setting out to raise £1,000 ($1,815) for the public service’s charities during the first, UK-wide coronavirus lockdowns in March.

However, on his 100th birthday, Sir Moore’s appeal topped a whopping £32 million ($58m).

The journey has continued since then, with appearances on talk shows, breakfast television and interviews—amounting to a staggering 700 interviews in six months—all reportedly for the benefit of causes he has backed.

In a statement, Dylan Jones, editor-in-chief of British GQ, said: “If this year shows us anything, it’s that hope can come from the places you wouldn’t expect.

“Captain Sir Tom Moore is the absolute embodiment of our Inspiration award for 2020 and we couldn’t be prouder to celebrate him at the upcoming GQ Men Of The Year Awards.”

On finding out he is British GQ’s oldest cover star, Captain Sir Tom told GQ: “Well, that’s something special, isn’t it?” adding: “And maybe next year, I’ll be the oldest again!”

In his cover interview, Sir Moore will discuss his new-found fame, The Captain Tom Foundation and being knighted.

Rumours emerge Dolly Parton could shoot for Playboy

In other magazine news, country superstar Dolly Parton is rumoured to be returning to the covers of Playboy.

TMZ.com reports that “a Playboy honcho” revealed the adult publication would love to shoot Parton, 75, again. A proposition for Parton to appear on the cover of the magazine again—after first posing in 1978—was put to her in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia.

At the time, she quipped that she would love to be featured in the men’s magazine for a second time, returning to don her famous bunny outfit as her “boobs are the same”.
