Sunday TV Wrap: Ninja Origin Sees Off Farmer’s Wives, But It’s Seven Who Catches The Evening’s Bouquet

Nine’s decision to drag out this year’s Ninja Warrior with a state-of-origin version has proven a fruitful move, with the add-on pulling 877,000 viewers last night according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Ninjas managed to stave off Seven’s Farmer Wants A Wife that did 853,000.

However, it was Seven taking the evening’s honours, the network pulling 29.6 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Nine had to settle for a close second and 27.9 per cent, the ABC had 19 per cent, 10 did 13.7 per cent and SBS pulled 9.8 per cent.

Again, news dominated Sunday night. Seven’s 6pm bulletin was the most-watched show of the evening with 1.56 million viewers. Nine’s news did 1.06 million, the ABC’s 7pm bulletin had 770,000 and 10 News First managed 296,000.

Seven’s rehashed Lindy Chamberlain doco, The Lindy Tapes (574,000), showed the nation’s fascination with baby Azaria’s disappearance hasn’t dulled after 40 years. It also took a bite out of 60 Minutes, that could only muster 486,000.

The ABC’s Sunday night dramas continue to attract eyeballs for Aunty – Vera pulling 658,000 and Shetland doing 624,000.

In the battle of the footy codes, Seven’s AFL did 309,000 and Nine’s NRL pulled 250,000. But again, these are linear TV numbers only.

Other highlights for 10 included The Sunday Project (471,000) and Family Feud (330,000).
