News Corp Australia To Streamline QLD Print Centres

News Corp Australia has today launched consultations with employees at its two South East Queensland print centres as part of a review that aims to consolidate existing operations into one site.

Executive general manager production, logistics and property, Marcus Hooke said the review follows the recent transition to digital of most of News Corp Australia’s regional and community portfolio.

“Since the transition to digital-only mastheads we simply don’t have the same demand and are now facing excess production capacity,” Mr Hooke said.

Mr Hooke said consultations with employees and representatives at the company’s two remaining South East Queensland print sites at Yandina and Murarrie began today and would conclude within a fortnight.

“We are working closely with our employees to ensure the best possible outcomes for them all.”

Since transitioning to digital, News Corp Australia has reported a strong uptick in demand for subscriptions, selling about 8000 across  the 76 mastheads that shifted to digital-only over the past four weeks, up about 200 per cent on the same time last year.
