BENCH PR Strengthens Team And Grows APAC Client Base

Technology specialist agency BENCH PR has appointed two new senior consultants to aid its growing client base in Australia and the APAC region.

Former Weber Shandwick Senior Vice President Min Chow (below) and former Head of Communications at fintech MoneyPlace Melissa Mack (featured pic) have both joined BENCH PR as Senior Consultants.

The appointments follow a major global account win for BENCH. BENCH will now represent global software company GitLab in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

GitLab is a complete development and operations platform that fundamentally changes the way development, security, and operations teams collaborate. GitLab has over 100,000 customers globally including Infoxchange, Ticketmaster, Goldman Sachs, and KnowBe4.

GitLab appointed BENCH to support its expansion in the APAC region. With 48 staff on the ground in Australia, their aim is to help revolutionise local software development.

BENCH now represents people and culture platform Culture Amp, global online learning provider  Skillsoft and GitLab in South East Asia.

The public relations plan for GitLab will focus on raising their profile, leveraging local spokespeople and content tailored to each market.

Jocelyn Hunter, Managing Director of BENCH PR, said “The demand for faster software development is universal but so many companies are struggling to manage the complexity and costs of using different software tools and processes, not to mention the silos between developer, security, and operations teams. GitLab provides it all in one application, reducing time and cost.”

“Our appointment of two new senior consultants with strong technology PR and APAC experience, will not only ensure success for GitLab, but will help us meet the continuing demand from global companies looking for proactive PR support across A/NZ and Asia,” Jocelyn added.

Min Chow previously worked at PR agencies including Text100 (now Archetype), LEWIS in Singapore and was most recently Senior Vice President of the corporate and technology practice at Weber Shandwick Australia.

Melissa Mack is a former financial journalist, working for titles including the New Daily, and was also previously Senior Director at public relations agency M&C Partners.

Natasha Woods, Director Corporate Communications at GitLab, said: “We are pleased to work with  an agency in Australia that has deep tech industry knowledge, and a highly experienced team, who can support our growth in the APAC region. We are looking forward to forging a long and strategic partnership with Jocelyn and her team.”
