Bumble Signs On As Supporting Partner Of 2020 Mardi Gras
Bumble has confirmed its commitment to inclusive connections across the community by coming on board as a supporting partner of the 2020 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
Lucille McCart, Bumble’s Country Lead Australia, confirmed this is an important moment for the brand in Australia.
“At Bumble we are dedicated to ensuring that our platform is as inclusive as possible for our community of users. Bumble is a place where everyone is able to have a positive and empowering experience that helps them create authentic and meaningful connections. Our company was founded on core values of respect, equality, inclusivity and kindness and this shows in everything that we do.”
“There is no event on the Australian cultural calendar that aligns with these values more than the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras; we could not be more proud to be partnering with this iconic organisation that has been fighting for equality for over 40 years and having fun while doing it!” said McCart.
Albert Kruger, SGLMG CEO said: “We’re pleased to welcome Bumble to Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras as partner for the first time this year. Bumble’s commitment to providing their services to everyone regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation creates more opportunities for our communities to connect.”
Bumble kicked off the partnership this past weekend by bringing its famous “Queen Bee” throne to Mardi Gras Fair Day, the biggest and most colourful event of the opening weekend of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2020. This time around the throne was nestled under a giant rainbow with a gold glitter backdrop.
From today users can apply in app for the opportunity to experience the world-famous Mardi Gras Parade from a VIP viewing area at Taylor Square, and then attend the sold-out Official After Party headlined by Dua Lipa, Sam Smith and Kesha. To enter download Bumble and swipe through to find the Mardi Gras competition profile.
While on Bumble women make the first move, in same sex matches either person can make the first move and their match has 24 hours to respond. Bumble also has an extensive list of gender options beyond the binary that can be selected upon registration. Existing users can update their gender identity at any time, and can select whether they’d like to show their gender identity to potential matches (opting to do so will mean your gender identity appears alongside your profile badges). On Bumble, how you identify is up to you.
