Nine & MAFS In Hot Water With Viewers For Supporting “Deceptive” & “Disgusting” Behaviour

Social media users are up in arms and threatening to boycott Nine’s Married At First Sight for “accepting” and “validating cheating in marriage”.

Following last night’s MAFS commitment ceremony, which raked in an eye-watering 1.68 million views according to OzTAM overnight metro numbers, viewers took to social media to air their anger at Nine and MAFS for making a “joke” of marriage and relationships after allowing contestants Jessika and Dan to continue on in the experiment despite their “manipulative” behaviour and cheating behind their partners’ backs.

The two contestants came clean about their relationship in last night’s episode, leaving their original partners in tears and outraged viewers slamming the couple on social media.

The hashtag “BoycottMAFS” was circulating Twitter last night, with social media users lambasting not only Jess and Dan, but also Nine and the MAFS “experts” for letting the cheating couple stay on the show.

On a series of radio and TV interviews this morning, the infamous contestants opened up about the death threats they’ve received.

Jess told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa they were “copping it”.

She said: “People are like, ‘I hope you get a noose and hang it around your neck and video it, you’re a disgrace'”.

Jess, who moved from her home in Perth to be with Dan on the Gold Coast, said to Nova she regrets their original partners Mick and Tamara got hurt but says she made the right decision to pursue Dan.

She said: “We didn’t go about it the right way but I knew what I wanted, I just had to do it.

“There was bits (in last night’s episode) that you didn’t see where I was like really freaking out and stumbling and Dan had to step in because I couldn’t.”

Dan told Today that last night’s episode was hard to watch, conceding the “way it unfolded […] wasn’t nice.”
