Erin Molan Joins Sky News Australia Just In Time For Election Year
Sky News Australia has revealed its 2022 programming line-up featuring new hosts, new programs and a new primetime programming schedule and yes – Erin Molan has joined!
Molan joins Sky News in 2022 as Sky News primetime contributor and will play a key role across Sky News primetime programming.
Molan will host a new documentary focusing on online safety, an issue she has strongly advocated for which resulted in the passing of new legislation last year.
However, it’s not just Molan that has jumped on board. Joining the Sky News team exclusively in 2022, international broadcaster and commentator Piers Morgan will launch his new primetime program. The program will also air in the UK and US as part of a global News Corporation initiative.
Sky News business Editor Ross Greenwood joins the weekday program line-up, hosting Business Now with Ross Greenwood each Monday to Friday at 4:30 pm. Greenwood will continue to host Business Weekend on Sundays.
Sky News also welcomes Australian journalist and media personality Joe Hildebrand who will share his unique take on issues big and small with his new political quiz-style program The Blame Game.
There’s also a revamped opinion schedule, as the ratings juggernaut that is Paul Murray Live moves to an earlier timeslot of 8:00 pm Sunday – Thursday. Murray continues his tour of regional Australia in 2022 with Paul Murray Live Our Town.
He will also be on the road during the election campaign with his popular Paul Murray Live “Pub Tests” putting policies and promises to the test with the help of voters in key electorates.
This follows the line-up of The Kenny Report at 5:00pm, Peta Credlin at 6:00pm and The Bolt Report at 7:00pm.
The ever-popular Rita Panahi launches The Rita Panahi Show, a new primetime program bringing her thought-provoking perspective on local and international issues to viewers.
The Front Page with Jenna Clarke will also move to the earlier timeslot of 10:30 pm, giving you your first look at tomorrow’s news even earlier.
Following on from another successful year of award-winning documentaries by the Sky News investigative team, 2022 sees a number of locally produced documentaries slated to air exclusively on the network.
These include MH370: The Final Search a follow-up by Peter Stefanovic to MH370: The Untold Story, which remains the highest-ever rating Sky News documentary.
Sky News host Peta Credlin will present a new documentary giving you an insider’s view on what really goes on during the political party election campaigns ahead of the looming Federal Election.
2022 will be the biggest year in election coverage yet on Sky News as it will comprehensively cover the Federal Election, and the South Australian and Victorian State Elections.
With the Federal election due by May, the award-winning team of Sky News political journalists including Kieran Gilbert, Andrew Clennell, Laura Jayes, Ashleigh Gillon, Tom Connell and Peter Stefanovic will bring viewers every moment that unfolds as we accompany the leaders on the campaign trail with insights from Paul Murray, Peta Credlin, Andrew Bolt, Sharri Markson, Rita Panahi, Chris Kenny and more.
The channel will also cover the debates in marginal seats throughout the country which will be hosted by the Sky News political team and in a Sky News first, we have invited key independents – who could well decide the fate of the government to participate in a two-debate series.
Paul Whittaker, Sky News Australia, chief executive officer said: “In 2021, our 25th year, we continued to build on our record audiences of 2020, ending the year as the #1 channel on Foxtel and the #1 Australian news channel on social media for the second consecutive year.
“There are big plans for Sky News in 2022 as our teamwork to bring our viewers the most comprehensive coverage and insightful debate on the news and issues that matter most. Looking ahead, the news agenda is already busy.
“We’ll bring viewers unrivalled coverage of the Federal Election and post-pandemic Federal budget. There’ll be an in-depth analysis of the health, social and economic implications of new variants of COVID-19. And we have some big events to look forward to, including the winter Olympics and Commonwealth Games to name a few.”
