Channel Nine Reporter Pulls Dead Body Out Of Water Moments Before Live Cross

Nine’s Gold Coast weather report took a grizzly turn over the weekend when the reporter revealed he’d just pulled a dead body from the water moments earlier.

Weather reporter Luke Bradnam was reporting on surfing conditions at Narrowneck south of Surfers Paradise when a boogie boarder in the surf alerted him to a man in the water.

Bradnam then stripped off and dived into the water to attempt a rescue. Unfortunately it turned out to be the body of British backpacker Jake Jacobs who had been reported missing following an evening swim 24-hours earlier.

Bradnam telling viewers after the dramatic incident: “A boogie border at Narrowneck alerted me, he thought he’d seen someone struggling again out in the surf.

“I immediately stripped off and raced out with the boogie boarder to help the person in trouble.

“It became pretty evident that there was a body floating in the water.

“The two of us were able to secure the body and start making our way through a rip, back into shore,” he said.

The deceased, Jake Jacobs, 24, had been living in Australia since 2019 and was reported missing after a late-night swim with friend Julia Bokia the previous evening. After a lengthy rescue effort, Boika was found unconscious on nearby Kurrawa Beach on Thursday night, but despite efforts by paramedics to revive her, she later died.
