Wavemaker Wins Network 10’s Media Following Owner ViacomCBS’ Global Realignment

GroupM’s Wavemaker has won Network 10’s Media following owner ViacomCBS’ decision to align its media globally, B&T understands.

The account was previously handled by Publicis’ Spark Foundry.

B&T has contacted all parties – Wavemaker, Network 10 and Spark – for clarification, however, all declined to comment publicly, the ink still a little too wet on the deal.

It continues an impressive string of wins for Wavemaker who can now add 10, lingerie brand Triumph, insurer AXA and the retention of Vodafone to its books in just the past six months.

Wavemaker was named Australia’s top-performing media agency for new business wins in January according to R3 data published on B&T.

It also comes at interesting time for 10 who’ve enjoyed a ratings surge in 2020 but – like the other free to airs – has struggled for ad dollars since the outbreak of CV-19.

Last month, 10’s chief sales officer Rod Prosser told B&T: “We’re not unlike any other business. We were fortunate that in the majority of our workforce that we could all set up at home.

“And then the other part with a sales lens, we’ve been lucky that we’ve got a really dynamic young sales team that’s been around for 16 months. The guys have really taken this as another challenge and the levels of high activity that have come out of the teams have been amazing.”

In March, 10 CEO Paul Anderson shocked just about everyone by quitting the role he’d held since July 2015. A replacement has yet to be announced.
