Sneak Peak: B&T Chats With 30 Under 30 Host & Absolute Champion Nat’s What I Reckon!

Sneak Peak: B&T Chats With 30 Under 30 Host & Absolute Champion Nat’s What I Reckon!

From teaching cats how to skateboard to taking out the garbage in a ball gown, people have been doing some weird and wacky sh*t during coronavirus lockdown.

Not everyone is wasting their time, however, with Aussie comedian and YouTuber Nat’s What I Reckon absolutely exploding in popularity across the globe thanks to his iso-cooking segments.

The sweary, ranty, hilarious, rock and roll drummer had been creating a name for himself on social media for 10 years, but it’s his home-cooking segments have been what’s really got people paying attention to this Aussie legend.

For example:

And, in excellent news, Nat is this year’s B&T 30 Under 30 Awards host! To quote Nat himself, onya, champion!

Just in case some of you don’t know who he is (and you really, really should), B&T had a little tête-à-tête with Nat to discuss why he chose to cook in iso, and what to expect from him on the night of the Awards show.

On the decision to film cooking segments in iso, Nat said: “Cooking is something I’m doing constantly, anyway. I’m always cooking way too much food for my house and I’ve always loved cooking for heaps of people. I’ve even cooked for friend’s weddings and all stuff like that.

“And I thought ‘well, fuck, I’m going to be stuck inside for who knows how long, and I’ve been to the shops and seen just the fucking stupid shit people are buying and it pissed me off so much’.

“I thought ‘this is fucking ridiculous, I’ve got the perfect video for this'”.

Nat says the whole idea of the segment isn’t to make fun of people but more the “stupid shit” people were buying at the shops.

“I’m not trying to make fun of people, it was more just kind of like why is everyone buying all this when you’ve got so much time to cook?”

So, what can you expect from the comedian at B&T‘s 30 Under 30 Awards night (happening this Thursday night, btw)?

“You can expect a consistent amount of ridiculous nonsense out of me. I’m going to keep it as dynamic as possible and I’m totally pumped to host. I’ve always loved hosting things. It’s one of the great joys in my life, prattling on either a microphone or in front of crowds, so I’m pumped!”

You heard it here first, adland. Ridiculous nonsense, we can’t bloody wait! And just so you can get to know him a little better, here are 10 ridiculous questions with Nat.

10 Questions with Nat’s What I Reckon

1. What’s one thing you’ve learned in iso (besides cooking)?

I’ve discovered walking in circles. I can walk in laps and be happy about that.

2. One thing you’re looking forward to once life gets back to normal?

Playing rock and roll in my band at bars and doing stand-up again.

3. How do you feel about the words ‘pivot’, ‘unprecedented’ and the ‘new normal’?

Sounds like a bunch of bands I would have played with at Uni. Just awful bands.

4. Do you believe in any conspiracy theories?

I’d love to believe that 5G causes coronavirus because it’s so fucking stupid. I’d absolutely love to believe in something that dumb. But no, I’m not really a conspiracy theorist. I’m too busy.

5. What is the funniest joke you know by heart?

What do you call a four-door chicken coup? A chicken sedan.

6. What’s the best type of cheese?

Smoked cheddar.

7. What is one animal that you are really afraid of?

I’m really afraid of humans. Nah, spiders, I’m fucking terrified of spiders.

8. What would be the creepiest thing you could say while passing a stranger on the street?

Doing something creepy is something I’d try and avoid, but maybe say: ‘Is your phone number still…’

9. What would be the worst thing for the government to make illegal?

Rock and roll.

10. You’re about to get into a fight. What song comes on as your soundtrack?
