Wednesday TV Wrap: The Bachelor Debut Brings 10 Some Sweet Audience Love

The much-hyped The Bachelor arrived last night with Matt and his bevy of lady friends delivering 10 some 828,000 viewers and some of its best audience share numbers for 2019.

According to OzTAM, 10 took home 24.5 per cent of last night’s eyeballs (all channels), leaving the network second to Seven (26.7 per cent) and pushing Nine to third (23.1 per cent). The ABC had 17.3 per cent and SBS did 8.5 per cent.

Network 10’s head of programming Daniel Monaghan said: “Audiences have fallen in love with Matt as their 2019 Bachelor. Matt’s journey is just beginning and we can’t wait for audiences to share in his journey to find a love that’s out of this world.

“It achieved the highest share ever for a Bachelor launch, was the number one entertainment show of the night, topped all the demos and created worldwide social buzz.”

Other highlights for 10 last night included The Project (511,000), My Life Is Murder (416,000) and 10 News First (365,000).

Seven won Wednesday on the back of its 6pm news (1.027 million), Home And Away (712,000), The Chase (625,000) and Highway Patrol Special (534,000).

Nine did well with its 6pm news (897,000), ACA (705,000), Hot Seat (498,000) and Young Sheldon (435,000).

For breakfast, Sunrise (276,000) toasted Today (214,000).

The ABC’s night ran thus: 7pm news (640,000), 7.30 (660,000), Hard Quiz (667,000) and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell (660,000).

For SBS, its best was a repeat of King Arthur’s Britain: Truth Unearthed with 277,000.
