Macquarie Centre Launches Fashion Film At The MCA

Macquarie Centre has launched its AW16 campaign with its first ever fashion film, titled Love Yourself, featuring Australian actors Sophie Lowe and Ryan Corr.

The film showcases key seasonal looks from designers such as Alice McCall, MJ Bale, and Zara stocked in centre. Sophie Lowe emerged in 2015 as a musical force to be reckoned with, with her unmistakable voice on recent release EP2 leading her to be named Rolling Stone’s “Favourite Artist of 2015.”

Lowe said of the project: “I loved working with Macquarie Centre on this film. They have so many amazing brands that we were able to choose from so getting involved in the styling of the shoot was really fun.”

Emma Giammarco, Macquarie Centre senior marketing Manager, said “We are so proud of the film which is a fantastic way to launch our retailers AW16 collections to shoppers. The film’s message is to encourage people to have confidence and learn to love themselves, and Sophie and Ryan both have a strong sense of personal style so they were the perfect choice to star in the film.”

Ryan Corr, who is currently starring in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, said: “The film has a great message. I love when you see someone with a really unique style that is just about dressing for themselves, rather than following the crowd. That’s what this is all about.”

The film was produced by a team of award-winning filmmakers including writer Lucas Jatoba, producer Rene Hernandez and cinematographer Simon Chapman, who shot the film on ALEXA in widescreen cinema format on location in the Blue Mountains.

Lucas Jatoba, who has produced over five films that have gone viral around the world, said “I loved the opportunity of writing and producing a fashion film for Macquarie Centre that is not only visually stunning, but that carries a meaningful and inspiring message that will empower the audience and spread positive vibrations in the world.”

Macquarie Centre has recently undergone a $440 million redevelopment to become a premium shopping destination, with more than 330 specialty stores over four levels.

The centre is currently home to the most international brands under one roof – Forever 21, Gap, H&M, Sephora, Top Shop (via Myer), UNIQLO, Victoria’s Secret, and Zara – as well as a strong stable of Australian designers (Alice McCall, Gorman, Sambag, Sass & Bide, Scanlan Theodore, Willow, and Zimmermann) anchored by two major department stores, Myer and David Jones
