Aussie strategist Robert Bellamy is returning to Australia after eight years in international roles to join Mindshare as chief strategy officer. Bellamy brings a wealth of international experience and insight to the role, where he will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and further strengthening its Good Growth brand positioning.

He joins from Initiative UK where he was most recently head of growth, responsible for leading new business strategy and organic growth, and supercharging culture at the London agency post-pandemic.

Bellamy is an accomplished strategist with more than a decade’s experience in the media and marketing industry, having worked with prominent agencies in Australia, the UK and the US.  His career began at Naked Australia, and he later moved to UM Australia before moving overseas. Bellamy has since amassed an impressive array of personal accolades, including NGEN shortlist, 6x Cannes Young Lion shortlists, Cannes Young Lion UK & Global Gold, and UK 30 under 30 winner.

Throughout his career, Bellamy has worked on high-profile global and Australian clients such as the NSW Government, Xbox, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Fitbit, LS&Co, GoPro, and Gallo. In 2021, he took on the Head of Growth role at Initiative UK, where he led new business efforts, provided business strategy, and revived the agency culture post-Covid.

In his role at Mindshare Australia, Bellamy will leverage his extensive experience in leadership, connections strategy, creative development, research and insights, client relationship management, data and analytics, and internal strategy to drive the Good Growth brand positioning. He will report into Gavin Gibson, Mindshare Chief Product Officer, who joined in September to strengthen the integration of data, technology, and strategy.

Maria Grivas, Mindshare Australia & New Zealand CEO, said: “Rob has extensive experience leading transformative strategies for clients that support business and brand growth, as well as experience building teams, supporting people and leading the next generation of market leading strategists. He will be a phenomenal asset to our team and our clients, bringing with him an international perspective as well as and empathetic understanding of Aussie audiences, and their triggers, that will help us deliver sustainable, Good Growth. His passions align with Mindshare’s values of Energy, Empathy and Impact, and our commitment to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional client service while promoting positive societal impact. I’m excited to welcome him to the Mindshare family.”

Bellamy added: “I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to return home to Australia than to join Mindshare and lead its renowned strategy team. I’ve had the pleasure of working in markets all over the world, but nothing matches the drive, quality and fun of the Aussie industry. As a strategist, my passion is to unpack a client’s business challenges and bring creativity and data together to solve them. I have much respect for Mindshare’s Good Growth proposition – at its core it promises clients that we deliver the advice that’s good for their business, not always the advice they are expecting. I can’t wait to get stuck in with Maria and the team.”

Bellamy joins Mindshare Australia in August.
