2025 AGENCY SCORECARDS

media scoreboard

What a season!

Last week we looked at how creative agencies fared in our Creative Scoreboard, and today we turn our attention to their media agency cousins.

Overall, it was a solid performance from planning and buying shops, although some stood out more during a tough year for the industry.

Two media agencies scored 9s: This is Flow, for its second year running, and Mindshare.

A WPP Media stablemate was the most improved media agency on this year’s list (see below), while three media agencies fought it out for the Trophy Titan prize.

B&T marks an agency’s score based on their previous year’s performance. This means that a score for 2024 is relative to how they performed in 2023. This is why the Final Standings are in alphabetical order.

An agency is assessed considering various criteria, including business performance, the quality of creative work, silverware, client relation scores, HR and L&D policies, and innovations that push the industry forward.

Consideration was also given to the challenging market conditions of 2024 and how this impacted business.

In the coming weeks, B&T will run a deep industry analysis piece based on the Agency Scorecards research, and produce a special B&T Agency Scorecard giant collector card for each agency. These will look and feel like the sports collector cards from childhood, but bigger in size and specifically tailored to each agency!

To receive a collector card, each agency must provide a high res photo, full length or waist up, of their MVP or captain. If your agency has not done this, please call the B&T team or email [email protected] to find out more.

special prizes

Most Improved team - essencemediacom

It’s been a breakthrough year for the breakthrough agency with Pippa Berlocher and her charges delivering on several fronts. An outstanding new business record, building a strong leadership team and culture, and winning the B&T Media Agency of the Year Award.

Trophy titan - initiative

Of the awards schemes that make it into the Trophy Cabinet, three agencies hit double figures: EssenceMediacom, OMD and Initiative. OMD won silverware across a broader range of schemes, but it was Iniative who the most with 16 trophies.

best team shot - wavemaker

B&T loves a tacky team shot, and there are few things tackier that scream out ‘precision media’ like organising your troops into a large shaped ‘W’ on an empty beach. The ‘W’ shape is well formed and (mostly) uniform. It’s the ‘positive provocation’ needed among an ordinary batch of team shots. B&T will be looking for improvement next year.
