Seven considers video-streaming service

The Australian reports that Seven is considering approaches from the likes of telco Optus, Freeview and Quickflix to co-create a video streaming service.

Seven’s aspirations are likely encouraged by the broader push of local networks competing in the space as well as the possible arrival of Netflix to Australia.

According to The Australian Netflix is talking about output deals for Australian content that can be streamed locally.

Nine is reportedly working towards launching its own streaming service, codenamed Stream Co, by the end of this year.

Foxtel’s Presto is also gearing up for a more competitive space by improving their offerings and locking in premium content such as Game of Thrones.
