Netflix Launched A New Site For Fans, Yet It’s Already Started Giving Its Staff Members The Boot

Tudum, a new website created by streaming service provider Netflix to provide insight to fans about all the shows featured on its platform, has begun laying off staff just a few months after its launch.

Tudum went live last December and is a place where people can watch exclusive interviews, news and other things related to their favourite Netflix series. The company announced last year that it had hired a number of well-known journalists to run its new portal, however just last night a number of them began posting on Twitter that they were no longer employed, asking if anyone had any job recommendations for them.

While Netflix itself has not given any specific details about the number of employees it let go, reports say that most of the editorial team at Tudum (around 10 people) are no longer employed. The company has also stated that they don’t plan on shutting down the fan site anytime in the future.

This development comes as no surprise considering Netflix’s latest quarterly financial report in which it was revealed that it had lost over 200,000 subscribers worldwide with its market share dropping by 25 percent following news that the company were planning to go after people with shared accounts.

Netflix have also announced plans on creating a cheaper subscription service to potential customers which will come with advertisements.
