A Slew Of Love Islanders Have Landed On The Watchdog’s Repeat Offender List

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is cracking the whip on influencers that are “consistently failing to disclose advertising” and the main culprits seem to be former UK Love Island contestants.

Love Islander’s Jess and Eve Gale and Belle Hassan keep breaking advertising guidelines by not disclosing to their followers when a post is sponsored- which is Instagram influencer etiquette 101.

Interestingly, these women don’t have small followings and they all have over 500k followers aka they have a lot of influence.

The ASA now has a new policy where it lists repeat offenders on it’s website – nothing like a bit of public shaming to get influencers to clean up their acts.

The ASA Website reads: “The influencers listed below are in breach of the CAP Code for routinely failing to clearly disclose when they are advertising to consumers on their social media channels.

“The influencers were contacted by the CAP Compliance team and asked to provide an assurance that they would include clear and upfront ad labels in their ads.

“Those on this list either failed to provide that assurance in the first instance or subsequently reneged on it and will be subject to a period of enhanced monitoring spot checks.”

So if you are an influencer and you’ve made the list it’s kind of like being on Santa’s naughty list.

Although the list does chop and change so the public shaming isn’t forever.

Of course, the ASA has been working tirelessly for a while now to try and get influencers to be more transparent and honest about paid posts or partnerships and clearly, some influencers fresh off the island still aren’t getting the message.
