Ryan Reynolds Creates Hilarious Spoof Ad For Peleton After Sex And The City’s Heart Attack!

Fans of the Sex in the City reboot And Just Like That were in shock when Chris Noth’s character, John James Preston (aka Mr Big), dropped dead of a heart attack after a session on a Peloton exercise bike. You can watch the scene at the bottom of this article.

And worse was to come, Peloton immediately had to go into damage control after its share price took a dive after the scene aired, claiming it wasn’t its bikes that were the cause, rather it was Mr Big’s “extravagant lifestyle” of cocktails, cigars and red meat that stopped his ticker.

Now, never one to miss an opportunity, Ryan Reynolds’ creative agency Maximum Effort has spoofed the death in a witty ad called “Unspoiler alert” voiced by Reynolds himself.

The ad, commissioned by Peloton, stars Mr Big attempting to seduce his fitness instructor, actress Jess King. He asked: “Shall we take another ride? Life’s too short not to.”

Reynolds voiceover added: “Regular cycling stimulates and improves your heart, lungs and circulation, reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease, strengthens your heart muscles, lowers resting pulse and reduces blood fat levels.’

“And just like that…he’s alive,” the caption reads.

For its part, Peloton released a statement from Dr Suzanne Steinbaum, a preventative cardiologist and member of Peloton’s Health & Wellness Advisory Council, who cited Mr Big’s unhealthy lifestyle and genetics as reasons for the heart attack.

“I’m sure SATC fans, like me, are saddened by the news that Mr Big dies of a heart attack,” Steinbaum said. “Mr. Big lived what many would call an extravagant lifestyle – including cocktails, cigars, and big steaks – and was at serious risk as he had a previous cardiac event in Season 6. These lifestyle choices and perhaps even his family history, which often is a significant factor, were the likely cause of his death. Riding his Peloton Bike may have even helped delay his cardiac event.”
