Russian Robotics Firm Will Pay You $280K To Use Your Face & Voice On Its Next Robot

A Russian robotics firm is offering $US200,000 ($A280,000) to anyone who’s willing to forfeit the rights to their face and voice for use in its latest robot development.

The company, Promobot, is making hyper realistic robots and they want to base them off real people so as they appear even more lifelike.

According to Promobot’s website, the company is looking for anyone with a “kind and friendly” appearance; it doesn’t matter your race or gender, however you do need to be over 25.

The winning applicant will need to have a 3D model of their face and body for the robot’s external features. They’ll also “have to dictate at least 100 hours of speech material to copy your voice”, which will then be used by the machine to communicate with customers.

Before taking off with the cash, the successful applicant will have to also “sign a license agreement” that allows “the use of your appearance for an unlimited period”.

“Our company is developing technologies in the field of facial recognition, as well speech, autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence and other areas of robotics,” Promobot’s website reads.

“Since 2019, we have been actively manufacturing and supplying humanoid robots to the market.  Our new clients want to launch a large-scale project, and as for this, they need to license a new robot appearance to avoid legal delays.”

Promobot is hoping to launch their robots in hotels, shopping centres and airports in North America and the Middle East from 2023.

But if you’re interested, you need to be quick! Media reports say they company is already mulling over the faces of 20,000 people who’ve so far applied for the lucrative gig.
