Sunday TV Wrap: The Block Wins The Night With Over A Million Viewers For Backyard Reveals
The Block had a big backyard-filled night on Sunday, scoring 1,064,000 viewers as per OzTAM’s metro data.
It was the most viewed TV of the night, as feuds over backyard budgets blew up and the cheating scandal from earlier this season reared its familiar head.
Next in the ratings was Nine News with 1,033,000 viewers, followed by Seven News with 947,000, ABC News with 647,000, and 60 Minutes with 623,000.
Seven also had 7News Spotlight: The Vanishing, which focused on the disappearance of Melissa Caddick, featuring interviews with her family as well as her husband Anthony Koletti.
Along with Spotlight, Seven aired Border Security – Australia’s Front Line to 322,000 viewers and Weekend Sunrise to 255,000.
On Nine, the late news had 337,000 viewers while Nine News: First at Five had 257,000.
10 also had a big night with Celebrity MasterChef where (spoilers here!) Chrissie Swan was eliminated after daring to present a Quiche Lorraine sans bacon. The ep scored 561,000 viewers.
Also on 10 was The Sunday Project with 373,000 viewers, 10 News First 262,000 and CSI: Vegas with 255,000.
Finally was the ABC, which had Restoration Australia with 476,000 viewers, Fires with 371,000, Insiders with 347,000, ABC News AM with 259,000 and ABC News PM with 250,000.
The Nine Network resoundingly won the night with a flat 35 per cent of the daily share. In second was the Seven Network with 25.2 per cent, followed by Network 10 with 18.2 per cent. Next was the ABC TV Network with 15.2 per cent while the SBS Network had 6.4 per cent.
Looking now to OzTAM’s Total TV report for Sunday October 10, Seven’s Hey Hey It’s Saturday 50th anniversary special – fittingly titled Hey Hey We’re 50 – was the winner.
It had a total audience of 2,116,000 viewers (metro: 1,224,000, regional: 657,000, BVOD: 97,000).
In second was The Block with a total viewership of 1,597,000 (metro: 924,000, regional: 383,000, BVOD: 208,000), and in third was Seven News with 1,578,000 (metro: 1,040,000, regional: 506,000, BVOD: 30,000).
The program with the highest lift on overnight was the ABC’s Fires at 45 per cent, bringing it to a total audience of 700,000 (metro: 318,000, regional: 166,000, BVOD: 93,000).
