Lil Nas X Calls Out The Non-Existent Backlash Over Tony Hawk’s ‘Blood’ Skateboards

Lil Nas X who faced widespread criticism for selling ‘Satan Shoes’ with his own blood in them, has taken to Twitter to point out that Tony Hawk has released a skateboard that features his own blood without any backlash.

Earlier this year Lil Nas X released his limited edition ‘Satan Shoes’ that were recreated Nikes via MSCHF. They featured his own blood and a bronze pentagram.

The shoes were clearly created to help promote Lil Nas X’s latest song, Montero aka Call Me By Your Name, and they ended up generating a huge amount of press for the singer, along with a ton of backlash, including Nike suing MSCHF. (They have since settled their lawsuit.)

In particular, some religious groups took issue with the shoes and Lil Nas X received a lot of anonymous online hate. Famously, South Dakota Governor Kirstie Noem expressed her distaste via Twitter.

However, when skateboarder Tony Hawk released his skateboard, “Hawk Blood Deck,” via the water brand Death Liquid. Hawk was seemingly not met with the same criticism, so far no Governor has tweeted about it!

Similarly to the “Satan Shoes” the boards were advertised as including Hawks own blood, although this time in the paint, and the skateboards, much like Lil Nas X’s ‘Satan Shoes’ sold out.

It seems the only difference is Hawk’s board sales are going towards charity – the proceeds are going to an anti-plastic nonprofit and The Skateboard Project, and Hawk managed to avoid any religious references, which may have made all the difference.

Still, Lil Nas X took to Twitter to call this out.

Twitter also weighed in.

While, Twitter continues to weigh in on the bloody saga. It will be interesting to see if this trend of celebrities selling products with their blood continues!
