Michelin Star Reviewers Descend Upon Burger King Restaurants

Michelin Star Reviewers Descend Upon Burger King Restaurants

An online petition from Burger King to be recognised with a Michelin star appears to have been successful, with reviewers visiting two of the burger chain’s restaurants over the weekend.

As B&T reported last week, Burger King believes its new Master Burger deserves the attention of Michelin reviewers.

“How many places does your little red book have that serve exceptional dishes that are on the table in five minutes, and where you don’t have to book three months ahead?” aid Burger King Belgium CEO Kevin Derycke in an open letter to the Michelin guide inspectors.

And the calls for the review seem to have been heard.

According to Business Insider, two Michelin reviewers visited the restaurants, ordering a full meal including the Master Angus burger and remaining anonymous, as is protocol for such reviews.

Burger King was then judged on its  product quality, mastery of cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in their cuisine, harmony of flavours, and consistency between visits.

So did the gritty burger chain manage to secure an illustrious Michelin Star?

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until November 1 to find out.

If Burger King does somehow manage to achieve the recognition, it will join Danish restaurant Noma being home to the only five-star burger on the planet.
