Trump Election Ad Accidentally Uses Images Of Russian Fighter Jets

Donald Trump’s election campaign continues to hit more snags after it was revealed a new social media campaign supporting American service men and women accidentally used a stock shot of Russian fighter jets.

The ad – which has since been removed – was made by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee and showed five soldiers in silhouette against a sunset as the planes fly overhead.

The image in the ad is a stock photo available on Shutterstock.com with the title “Military silhouettes of soldiers and airforce against the backdrop of sunset sky.”

However, one eagle-eyed trainspotter (well planespotter, in this instance) quickly called the jets out as being owned by America’s arch-enemy, the dastardly Russians!

A former plane designer for the US airforce, Pierre Sprey, told the news site Politico that the jet fighters in the image were “definitely a MiG-29”. Sprey’s suspicions confirmed by Ruslan Pukhov, the director of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies in Moscow.

“I’m glad to see it’s supporting our troops,” said Sprey. While Pukhov also pointed out that at least one of the soldiers in the image was carrying the famous Russian-made AK-74 assault rifle.

No one from the Trump camp has commented on the blunder.
