News Corp Unveils New Look Escape

News Corp Australia today announced a continued investment in Australian travel media with a refreshed Escape designed to reignite Australian travel.

Debuting on Sunday 26 July, the reinvigorated Escape will feature a vibrant new look and feel and welcomes some of Australia’s most exciting travel specialist contributors and columnists. All aimed at readers seeking escapism, inspiration and confidence for when they are able to travel again.

Under the recently appointed Editorial Director of Premium Food and Travel, Editor-in-Chief of Escape Kerrie McCallum, the Escape team has been working on the new look to help travel clients get back to business and consumers to get back on holiday.

McCallum said: “The world of travel has faced much upheaval in 2020, and many challenges remain. But one thing is certain – the Australian desire to travel is as much a part of our DNA as Vegemite.

Escape is the leader in the travel category, and it’s our role to inspire Australians to start traveling again, safely and with confidence, where possible, and within their means – whether that’s fantastic road trips with expert itineraries, camping and caravanning, or luxe hotel staycations.

“It’s why we committed to continue publishing through Covid-19, bringing Escape to readers every week in isolation. It’s also why we decided to rethink our pages and our content, to bring a fresh new feeling to them. We’ve introduced new faces, places, evocative images, pages and voices. Change is, after all, (almost) as good as a holiday!

“From this Sunday take a peek inside an avid traveller’s suitcase, learn about new destinations and unique experiences, find out about fellow travellers’ most memorable holidays, dream of postcard-perfect places, and get inspired by our new faces.”

MasterChef judge and avid foodie traveller Melissa Leong joins the Escape team to write about how food influences a destination with her weekly column Destination Dish.

Adventure expert Tyson Mayr (aka The Naked Traveller) brings a unique take on adventure travel to his new weekly column, with great tips for those who love to get active on a break.

Alison Kubler’s new Culture Vulture column includes art, culture, festivals and gallery must-visits.

Plus, visit cellar doors with Darren McMullen or take a regional road trip with Merrick Watts.

The new Escape writers join Australia’s leading travel columnist Kendall Hill, deals expert Mercedes Maguire and longest running advice column by Doc Holiday, aka Claire Sutherland. Along with rotating opinion columns from the likes of Matt Preston, Jacinta Tynan, Alex Carlton, Kerry Parnell, Angus Fontaine and David Smiedt.

The new look Escape will be supported by an extensive consumer marketing campaign launching this weekend and running for six weeks across print, digital and radio.
