Social Media Loses It Over Auslan Interpreter Signing F-Bombs Thrown At WA Premier
Every day there’s another coronavirus update from our state’s Premiers. And, whenever there’s an update, you can bet there is an Auslan interpreter there doing their goodly duties for the hearing impaired.
While all are legendary, some take their role extremely seriously, going above and beyond to ensure every single word heard is relayed in sign language, including some words that might be somewhat unsavoury.
Take the Auslan interpreter who signed the bogans who heckling WA Premier Mark McGowan yesterday, F-bomb, “Whooo!” and the rest.
As the Premier was giving an CV-19 update in Rockingham, he was repeatedly heckled from passing cars. So what did the Auslan interpreter do? She did her job and interpreted the heckles down to every last word.
She signed “fucking love you buddy” and a rather long “whooo!”
Social media users were quick to praise the interpreter, with one user saying she had “saved [his] April”
Another said: “Props to the sign language interpreter for signing for the passing yahoo.”
One commented: “Trilingual! Auslan, English, AND Bogan. Gotta love it!”
