Australia Tumbles In Global Internet Speed Rankings

Australia has failed to make the top 50 for global fixed broadband internet speeds, falling below India, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Kosovo in the latest rankings.

The Speedtest Global Index ranks countries around the world based on mobile and fixed broadband speeds.

For fixed broadband, Australia dropped three spots from the previous rankings to finish 68th out of the , with an average download speed of 41.78 mbps.

Singapore by far had the fastest fixed broadband speeds, with download speeds of 200.12 mbps blowing away the competition.

Despite the poor fixed broadband speeds, Australia’s internet speeds were far stronger when it came to mobile.

Despite falling one spot, Australia still managed to finish 6th on the list, behind South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Canada and China.

Average mobile download speeds were far quicker than fixed broadband speeds, at 67.66 mbps.

    1. If you look at the Netflix speeds rating by countries we are way above average 14 in the ratings in Dec 2019 and faster than Canada and South Korea. The United Arab Emirates and Qatar are not listed but some other middle eastern countries like Kuwait, Israel and Saudi Arabia are and we are faster than all of them. China is not listed but Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan are there and we are faster than all of these too.
