Shutterstock Pays Homage To Stock Images With #RockThatStock Competition

To celebrate Shutterstock’s 15-year anniversary of empowering storytellers, the company has paid homage to stock images with a global competition amongst employees.

#RockThatStock challenged Shutterstock staffers to recreate stock photo and video content as a tribute to its network of more than 400,000 contributors and the content they create every day.

Encouraged to work together on their recreations, employees from the US, Canada, Germany, the UK, Ireland and Singapore submitted their stock interpretations, ranging from tributes of iconic figures to the most popular stock photo memes of 2017.

While some involved elaborate set design, costume and makeup, others were simpler yet astonishingly similar to their original pieces.

One of those images was of a young woman and balloons (pictured above), inspired by one of the first stock photos on the marketplace as originally uploaded by Shutterstock founder and CEO Jon Oringer.
