“Sex Clams” Headline Clanger Provokes Social Media Merriment

Newspaper publishers have been cutting back on staff for nigh on a decade now to the detriment of both journalism integrity and a paper’s quality.

And to find evidence of the fact, look no further than the esteemed Times Daily from Alabama in the US.

Over the weekend it made the ultimate clanger with its front page headline that read, “Party divided over sex clams“.

The article was supposed to be about recently surfaced allegations that Republican senator nominee Roy Moore had a sexual encounter with an underage girl some 40 years ago.

The seriousness of the allegations aside, social media is, as you’d expect, revelling in the saucy mollusc mistake. Check out some of the reactions below:
