Amber Harrison Has Rare Court Win To Remove Sensitive Legal Documents Online
Amber Harrison, the former mistress of Channel Seven CEO Tim Worner, had a legal win over the weekend after Melbourne’s Federal Court ordered a US website to remove sensitive legal documents that inferred Harrison should seek a resolution with her former employer rather than fight the case in court.
Last Thursday it was revealed that documents from Harrison’s former lawyers, Harmers Workplace Lawyers, had been leaked on the San Francisco-based website Automattic Inc under the headline ‘BREAKING: Amber Harrison’s struggle with greedy lawyers’.
The court ordered the documents be removed, however, it is unclear whether Automattic Inc has received the order or complied.
According to reports on Fairfax Media, the leaked documents are emails discussing whether Harrison should negotiate with Seven rather than fight it out in court over her alleged claims that Seven didn’t provide a safe working environment.
Harmers is no longer working with Harrison amid claims it’s still owed $330,000 in unpaid fees from its former client.
It had been reported that Harrison, who has been unemployed since leaving Seven, wanted as much as $2 million. Her current legal team, headed by the highly-prized Julian Burnside QC, is working pro bono such is Harrison’s parlous financial position.
In late April, the judge in the current case ordered the two parties into mediation. This will reportedly happen on June 1st.
