American Express has announced Back The Night, a music festival designed to kick-start a return to Sydney’s nightlife and provide support to both the music and hospitality industry.

The festival, which will be held on Sunday 29th May, will be headlined by English band London Grammar and feature a number of popular and up-and-coming Australian artists.

Each act will take place at one of several iconic venues, and all proceeds going to industry charity group Support Act.

The festival’s unique ticketing setup will allow ticket holders to curate their experience by allowing them to attend any of the shows featured with a single ticket.

The music program will feature artists including:

London Grammar – Oxford Art Factory from 7:30pm
Boy and Bear – Surly’s American Tavern from 5pm
Alex Lahey – The Colombian Hotel from 6pm
Odette – Hyde Park House from 6pm
Jess Kent – The Colombian Hotel from 4pm
The Delta Riggs (DJ set) –The Colombian Hotel Rooftop from 2pm

Naysla Edwards, American Express vice president of brand and member experience says: “After the incredible hardship faced by the music industry over the past two years, we’re incredibly proud to be delivering an event that not only aims to reconnect Sydneysiders to great live music, but also provide a platform for the future of the Australian music industry.”

“From artists, performers, venues, businesses and all of the people behind the scenes, Back The Night is an important kick-start to help the industry head into a brighter future they so wholeheartedly deserve.”

Mark Gerber, founder and CEO of Oxford Art Factory says: “It’s no secret that the pandemic hit the Sydney and Australian music industry really hard. We’ve seen first-hand so many businesses disappear and shut down, so it’s great to see things beginning to rebound.”

“After what has felt like a lifetime, we’re stoked to be opening our doors again and not only be a part of this event, which spans across and supports so many venues and artists, but to host headliners London Grammar for what will be a very special evening of music.”

Pre-sale tickets for American Express Card Members are available this Friday, 29 April, with general limited sale tickets available for purchase on Monday 2 May.
