Highly Dubious Study Claims Half Of Travelling Aussies Would Give A Gift Of Tim Tams

A new study, presumably commissioned by Arnott’s, has ‘miraculously’ found that half of Australians say they would pack the fabled chocolate biscuit in their suitcase for gifting when visiting friends and family overseas.

The poll – reportedly performed by YouGov – found the Tim Tam beat out Vegemite (45 per cent), wine (29 per cent), Ugg boots (15 per cent) and the boomerang (15 per cent) as apparently the most Aussie gift.

The study went further, declaring 49 per cent of Australians would consider giving a gift of Tim Tams this Christmas. Which, if true, proves we’re all tight and thoughtless with early on-set diabetes.

YouGov found: “Of those doing the gifting, men (58 per cent) are more likely than women (38 per cent) to gift Tim Tam, and the younger generations (Gen Z – 72 per cent, Millennials – 62 per cent) give Tim Tam as a gift more often than their older counterparts.”

It found Victorians are more likely than Queenslanders to pack Tim Tams as a gift when travelling (57 per cent versus 45 per cent.)

Residents of capital cities are more likely than regional residents to pack Tim Tams (54 per cent versus 44 per cent.)

The study also found that 58 per cent of Australians say they’ve given a gift of Tim Tams at the office Kris Kringle. B&T suggests Ferrero Rocher might have something to say about that.

On top of all this hogwash, the brand has also announced you can now buy a tin of individually wrapped Tim Tams (lead image) at your local Coles for $24.
