Pinterest Expands Parental Leave Policies

Pinterest Expands Parental Leave Policies

Pinterest’s progressive parental policies are being expanded company wide.

Beginning on January 1, 2022, employees in all global offices will have a minimum of 20 weeks of parental leave.

This benefit extends to adoptive parents who will also have 20 weeks of paid leave which was previously 16 weeks. This is in addition to an increase of monetary assistance from USD$5000 ($A7000) to USD10,000 ($A14000).

As has already been in place, after leave, birthing and adoptive parents can gradually return to work over the course of four weeks and can work the equivalent of one full day per week for full pay.

These changes come as Pinterest becomes poised to triple its Australian staff base, as the platform strengthens its global mission to be one of the most supportive and inclusive places to work and places to be online.

Also included in Pinterest’s parental policy entitlements:

  • Parents of newborns in the NICU can take 8 weeks of paid leave.
  • Those who experience a loss through a miscarriage at any point in the pregnancy can take four weeks of paid leave.
  • IVF and egg freezing is now available for all globally (previously only a benefit offered in the U.S.)

These modern updates are in addition to benefits already on offer, including support around surrogacy, breast milk shipments and mental and emotional wellbeing.
