David Warner Wreaks Havoc As He Replicates Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola Stunt!
Aussie cricketer David Warner has recreated Cristiano Ronaldo’s presser Coca-Cola stunt that launched a million headlines and cost the drinks company billions.
At the T20 World Cup, Warner removed the Coke bottles from his table at a press conference, very quickly he was then told to put them back, Warner smiled and said. “Do I have to put it there?”
He then put the Coke bottles back and uttered the soon to be, iconic phrase, “If it’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me.”
Warner then smiled and in true Aussie fashion said, “Nah, it’s alright.”
Of course, he is referencing Ronaldo’s actions only a few months, Ronaldo who is known for his strict and healthy diet was at a Euro 2020 press conference when he removed the Coke bottles in front of him and said the already famous words, “drink water.”
At the time the removal of the Coke bottles made worldwide news and had real consequences for Coca-Cola, according to news.com.au, the stunt cost the most well-known soft drink brand $5.2 billion.
The Athletic reported that Coca-Cola’s shares were worth $US56.10 (AU$74.43) each when the market opened in Europe on Monday, but by the time the press conference wrapped up, they had already fallen to US$55.2 each. (AU$73.24)
Following Ronaldo’s move, a Russian football manager Stanislav Cherchesov skulled a bottle of coke during a press conference at Euro 2020 and French soccer ace Paul Pogba removed a sponsor’s beer during a Euro 2020 press conference.
So, it will be interesting to see if Warner’s move sets off a chain of events!
While Warner didn’t offer any drinking advice and his move hasn’t seemed to cost Coca-Cola any money, at least not yet! His stunt has definitely caused a flurry on Twitter.
Haha David Warner wanted to put away the Coke’s bottle, but he was told he had to put them back. He obliged with a smirk saying “if it’s good enough for Cristiano, it’s good enough for me” 👏🏼 pic.twitter.com/9VgNi7JJD1
