JCDecaux Announces Black Dog Institute As Charity Partnership

Out-of-Home media company JCDecaux has reinforced its commitment to the community by announcing Black Dog Institute as its latest major charity partner. the charity’s One Foot Forward campaign is now live across JCDecaux assets.

One Foot Forward encourages individuals and businesses to walk in support of the one in five people who experience symptoms of mental ill-health every year. The event takes place over the month of October during Mental Health Month.

There are three pillars to JCDecaux’s charity support program, JCDecaux HEART – health and mental health, environmental sustainability, and enriching urban communities.

Black Dog Institute has been selected as JCDecaux’s mental health charity partner. It is the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, with the aim to create a mentally healthier world for everyone.

This announcement follows a soft launch earlier in the year which saw Black Dog Institute promote its HeadGear app across the JCDecaux Street Furniture network.

The campaign was incredibly successful, with download rates up 214 per cent in March and 188 per cent in April YOY while the activity was live in the market.

Tess Phillips, executive general manager of Government relations and corporate affairs at JCDecaux, said: “As we all continue to deal with the effects of the pandemic, mental health is a key priority for the JCDecaux business and our staff.

“This partnership gives us a way to support the important work of Black Dog Institute with dedicated media space to promote its major fundraising campaign, One Foot Forward, raising money for vital mental health research, digital tools and community programs.

Black Dog Institute, senior manager of partnerships, Tasman Cassim, said:“We are delighted to be partnering with JCDecaux’s through their JCDecaux HEART program,”

“Without the generosity of organisations such as JCDecaux, we wouldn’t be able to deliver the valuable evidence-based research that helps us better understand and treat mental ill-health.

“This support helps us to reach more people across the community who are keen to be involved in our One Foot Forward program.

Together this will help us raise much-needed funds for our research work to develop and deliver evidence-based resources that aid in reducing the prevalence and impact of mental ill-health.”
