Networks Fail To Meet Quotas On Children’s And Australian Content

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has released the results of how networks complied with the standards for Australian content and children’s content over 2020.

Both Ten and Nine failed to meet the requirement for Australian drama, with Ten scoring 233 out of a required 250 points, and Nine scoring 181. Seven was most successful, meeting the requirements with a score of 255.

All channels succeeded in meeting the requirements for Australian documentary, which has a requirement of 20 hours. 10 had 22 across all states, Nine had a high of 68 in Melbourne and Seven had a peak of 81 in Perth.

While Seven led the pack on Australian content, it fell behind in children’s programming, broadcasting 87 of the required 260 hours. In contrast, Nine met the target with 267 hours and Ten met it with 261 hours.
