Which Brands Garnered The Most Positive Buzz In 2015?

The best brands for 2015 have been ranked, published and are here for your viewing pleasure.

Global polling and research firm YouGov has released its 2015 Best Brand Ranking for Australia, with Google taking out the top spot on the podium.

Based on BrandIndex data, the search engine giant pulled the highest buzz score of 28.4 in 2015 (whatever that means), while YouTube and Aldi nabbed silver and bronze respectively.

YouGov’s BrandIndex is a daily measure of brand perception among the public, tracking many brands across multiple sectors simultaneously, with these results representing the highest average Buzz scores in Australia between October and December 2015.

Our fair country is a new addition to BrandIndex, which has been tracking brands since second half of 2015, and currently tracks over 250 brands, with these rankings pertaining to the fourth quarter of 2015.

These brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score which asks respondents, “If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”

We’ve got the top brands ranked by survey participants right here so you know what’s good.

  1. Automotive – Toyota is the highest ranked brand in this category

And if you’re interested in which brands generate serious buzz abroad, Amazon, Netflix and YouTube were top in the US, while in the UK Aldi, Lidl and BBC iPlayer scored highest, and China had Dove, Chanel and Wechat as its top three finishers.

“Now a long-running theme, global tech and Internet giants Google, YouTube, Samsung, Facebook and Apple dominate the BrandIndex Global Rankings for 2015,” BrandIndex global CEO Ted Marzilli said.

“In 2015 Google features on 16 of the Top Ten lists for the 24 countries tracked, reaching lead positions in Australia, Canada and Mexico.

“Telecoms behemoths Samsung and Apple duke it out in many of the country lists with Samsung appearing on 12 country lists and Apple on 10. The iPhone brand also appears on 8 lists. Facebook appears on 11 country Top Ten lists and takes top spot in both Thailand and Egypt.

“Although global brands outweigh the homegrown, over thirty percent of the country top ten lists are still local. For Finland and China particularly local brands fare well. Although German retailer Aldi tops out the Finnish list, the rest of their top ten is local. 8 of the Chinese top ten are local including Wechat and QQ apps and the Alibaba online retailer Tmall.”
