Tinder’s latest Snapchat-esque feature

Let others see what you look like for 24 hours before the message self-destructs in the new update for mobile dating app, Tinder.

Users are now able to send picture messages to potential matches through Tinder’s ‘Moments’, with the ability likened to Snapchat’s messages.

Sean Rad, founder and CEO of Tinder, told Time that while they’ve taken inspiration from other platforms out there, he believes it’s very different to Snapchat.

He told Time: “I think Tinder is different [from Snapchat]. Of course we’ve taken inspiration from other experiences out there, but the core user experience with moments is very Unique and familiar to our users in the way we present the content. The action of swiping is very unique to Tinder.”

Tinder wants users to be more themselves and by introducing the feature, the app hopes you can be yourself without the pressure of making it perfect.

“Capturing and sharing a Moment is designed to be really quick and less intimidating,” the blog post stated.

“Just like real life the moments we experience start to fade, which is why every shared Tinder Moment can only be seen for 24 hours.”

Tinder also released a G-rated video explaining the feature, however The Australian suggests this could be an invitation to send more risqué images.

Twitter appears divided on the new feature with some believing it will only aid a “hasty, poorly lit dick pic” while others think the feature could have some potential.
