Industry social enterprise Mood’s inaugural stepathon challenge has come to a close, with Seven West Media taking home the winning trophy.

The top individual track stars across the four week challenge were Courtney Mitchell from Seven West Media and Frank Carlino from Carat who both won a $500 gift card for their efforts.

The ‘Step Up Your Mood’ competition, held in partnership with Impact and UnLtd, exceeded expectations uniting over 500 individuals from across the industry together during lockdown to improve mental health and physical wellbeing.

Seventy companies participated from across the country including the likes of Dentsu Aegis Network, Facebook, Finecast, GroupM, IAB, InSkin, Impact, LinkedIn, OMD, Reprise, Seven West Media, The Media Store, The Trade Desk, Verizon Media and many more.

In a staggering collective effort, participants accumulated a total 67,204,292 steps to cover 51,210km over the competition period.

Jenni Hayward, general manager of MOOD said: “we at MOOD want to support our industry as much as you all support us. Recognising the challenges that we’re all currently facing in lockdown, we wanted to bring back that competitive spirit all whilst boosting mental wellbeing with this stepathon challenge.”

“It’s been great to witness everyone take some necessary time out each day to focus on themselves, connect with their colleagues and get active outside. Together, we’ve taken enough steps to walk the equivalent of the north to south pole two and a half times! We hope everyone enjoyed the competition and we look forward to bringing you more events that continue to unite the industry for good.”

Adam Furness, managing director APAC at Impact, added, “it’s been incredible to see the industry come together in such a large group to take part in this challenge and support each other during this difficult time. Impact is proud to be a part of an initiative like this which inspires our peers to make time for themselves and their mental health. ”

“Although the challenge is officially over, we encourage everyone to keep looking out for each other and putting their health first, both physical and mental.”
