Elementary returns, The X Factor burns competition

Two premieres propelled Ten into the top ten last night but Seven’s reality darling The X Factor was unbeatable, winning Seven 1.543 million viewers on Sunday night.

Seven won the top three most watched programs last night with the story of Australia’s bionic dad pulling in 1.391 million viewers to Sunday Night with 1.238 million tuning in to Seven News.

Ten’s fresh content pushed the network into the top 10 with Modern Family winning eighth place and Elementary 10th, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

The new episode of Modern Family was watched by 802,000 people and the first instalment of the new Elementary season won Ten 736,000 viewers. The premiere of Elementary is down on the first season debut which pulled in more than 1.2 million for Ten in February

With another Modern Family (681,000) episode, Ten Eyewitness News (486,000) and Great Bear Stakeout with Billy Connolly (417,000) also in the top 20  Ten took a total 19% share of all free-to-air viewers.

Ten’s primary channel won 13.4%.

The result puts Ten ahead of the ABC which sat on a total 14.5% last night with 10.7% to its main channel.

Nine News was Nine’s most watched show with 1.163 million viewers. Australia’s Got Talent followed with 1.01 million and Bones brought in another 823,000 to the network which took a total 25.5% share. Nine’s main channel won 20%.

But Seven was unbeatable. The network took a combined 36.3% share, with 28.2% of that going to Seven’s primary channel.
