Offspring tear jerker lifts Ten, SlideShow wins

The debut of Seven’s new SlideShow not only won the 7.30pm slot last night but dominated television sets across the country as Wednesday night's most watched.

The comedic program won 1.307 million viewers and pushed Seven to take 28.2% of all free-to-air viewers, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.

Ten received a huge ratings boost last night – taking 23.4% of all viewers, just behind Nine’s 24.7%.

The boost came as a result of an emotionally charged episode of Offspring, in which Nina’s baby-daddy Patrick was killed off.

The tear-jerking episode of Offspring dominated the 8.30pm slot, with 1.057 million viewers.

It sat in fourth place overall overall and beat other 8.30pm contenders, Seven’s Criminal Minds (812,000) and Nine’s Arrow (645,000).

MasterChef, which came just before Offspring, was elevated to 933,000 viewers.

Ten’s This Week Live won 620,000 viewers at 9.30pm.

Nine News took the most news viewers with 1.276 million, followed by Seven News (1.22 million), ABC News (940,000) and Ten News at Five (673,000).

SBS took 5.3% of all viewers behind the ABC’s 18.4%.
