Lucinda Price is a writer, presenter, recording artist, and comedian – and one of Australia’s most exciting entertainers.

You may know Price better by her handle @frooomes. As well as having one of the best accounts on social media, Price is the CEO of FROOMESWORLD, an international one-woman business specialising in scripting, producing, presenting and editing original content.

She’s interviewed stars like Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, Flume, Mark Ronson and Samuel L Jackson. Her experience also includes appearing on panels at The Wheeler Centre, Emerging Writers’ Festival, Digital Writers’ Festival and has performed live as part of Giant Dwarf’s Nailed It and Poems for Paws.

She has created original podcasts including Waiting For A D8 and No Chill, features regularly on The Friday Shake Up on Triple J and has featured on ABC’s A Rational Fear.

And, excitingly, she’s our host for the B&T 30 Under 30 awards!

Price had a chat with B&T about her life, career, and number one YouTube compilation video.

B&t: Describe your attributes in no more than five words.

LP: Funny weird or funny haha?

What achievement are you most proud of?

My biggest achievement would be getting this trickshot on the basketball courts of RMIT in 2017.

When the world feels dark, how do you find comedy?

On YouTube. Amy Sedaris videos or the Crack Kids At It Again vine compilation. I’ll eat McDonald’s at the same time if I’m in need of a serious serotonin boost.

If you go for a drink with your 20-year-old self, what would you tell her?

Don’t get too excited cos the group assignments you’re hating won’t end. Work is just a lifelong group assignment. You’ll always feel you’re doing more than your teammates. Especially if you aren’t.

What does your creative process – if you have one – look like?

A few months ago I was walking down the street and saw a fugly dog. I was so shocked by it, I posted about it on Instagram with the caption “not into dogs”. This sparked monumental debate – my DMs were blowing up and I knew I was onto something. Almost everyone was going in to bat for these ugly dogs.

From that I wrote a newsletter about my thoughts.

That’s usually my process – have a thought, put it out there, get feedback, discuss feedback and my thoughts on the feedback and create something larger like a newsletter or a video.

What was the most rewarding part of setting up your own company?

Registering the business name. So satisfying.

If you still haven’t nabbed your tickets for 30 Under 30, you can get them here – there are still some final tickets available.

The B&T 30 Under 30 awards will be held on Thursday 15th April at The Factory Theatre, 103 Victoria Road, Marrickville NSW.

The dress code is cocktail, with arrivals at 6.30pm. The awards ceremony will begin at 7.30pm.

All 30 category winners will be announced on the night, as well as People’s Choice and Grand Prix winners.
