Thursday TV Wrap: Seven Wins Night As 652K Tune In To Watch AFL Players Compete In Empty Stadium

No crowds made for eerie viewing at last night’s Richmond v Carlton AFL game.

The AFL season kicked off last night to an empty stadium due to coronavirus restrictions, but 652,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch Richmond beat Carlton 105-81, according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys beat the Bulldogs, playing to an equally empty stadium, with just 307,000 metro viewers tuning in to watch the game.

Here’s how the rest of the night ran:

Seven 

News did 1.1m, The Chase did 532,000 Home and Away did 358,000, the AFL prematch did 434,000 and in the morning, Sunrise did 300,000.

Nine

News did 994,000, ACA did 549,000 and Hot Seat did 500,000.

Gogglebox did 604,000, Ambulance Australia did 463,000 The Project did 483,000 and 10 News First did 449,000.

ABC

News did 852,000, 7.30 did 708,000 and Sammy J did 366,000.

All channels share

Seven won the night with 32.9 per cent, Nine did 24.1 per cent, 10 did 19.0 per cent, ABC did 15.9 per cent and SBS did 8.1 per cent.

Primary channel share

Seven pipped Nine earning 24.9 per cent and 16.8 per cent respectively, 10 did 13.0 per cent, while ABC and SBS did 10.3 per cent and 4.8 per cent respectively.
