Pubs Turn The Coopers Tap Off After Its Part In The Bible Society’s New Campaign

Coopers is licking its wounds after some pubs in Sydney and Melbourne pledged to no longer serve the popular beer brand due to its involvement in The Bible Society’s latest campaign.

The campaign takes the form of a video series, titled ‘Keeping it Light’, with the first instalment featuring Liberal conservative Christian MP Andrew Hastie and agnostic gay MP Tim Wilson discussing same-sex marriage while drinking Coopers Premium Light beer.

Coopers then issued a couple of statements clarifying its involvement in the campaign, with the second one denying the brewing company gave permission for its Premium Light beer to feature in or sponsor The Bible Society’s video.

However, it seems the damage has already been done, with a number of pubs taking to social media to announce that they would no longer serve or stock the beer brand, and reaffirming their stance on marriage equality.
