Former Seven Newsreader Chris Bath Finds New Home On Radio

Former newsreader on the Seven Network, Chris Bath, has joined the radio landscape for a new gig on ABC’s drive show 702.

She will be covering for Richard Glover for three weeks starting next Monday, the Sydney Morning Herald is reporting.

“I have had an ongoing conversation with 702 since I left Seven and the opportunity came up to fill in for Richard and I first though, wow, and then I thought, huge shoes to fill,” she told Fairfax Media.

“I am a Richard Glover listener and the funny thing is, when he goes somewhere, and someone fills in, I often think, who is that person, when is he coming back, and now I am that person.”

The SMH article by Michael Idato also said Bath had confirmed speculation she was in talks with Sky News, but also she had been talking with a lot of people, not just Sky.

“I have been talking to Sky, but I have been talking to a lot of people,” she said.”Part of leaving is exploring what opportunities are out there.”

Bath had pulled the plug on Seven in June 2015 when she decided she wanted to do something new.

She had been with Seven for two decades.

“I’ve loved it all, worked with some amazing people and made lifelong friends at Seven,” Bath said at the time.

“It has been a tough decision to leave, but years ago I left a great job in regional television because I didn’t want to say ‘What if?’ about life, and I feel with all that experience on board now, the time is right again to explore new horizons.”

At the time, News Corp’s The Australian reported she had been asked to shed $100,000 from her $800,000 annual salary. However, Bath had denied this.
