Nine’s My Granny The Escort pulls Almost Half a Million

A no-holds-barred account of grandma sex workers promised to be a squeamish hour of television but that didn’t stop almost half a million people from checking out Nine’s My Granny The Escort last night. Or maybe that was why they tuned in…

Last night three brazen UK grannies who top up their pensions by selling sex out of their spare rooms or hotels, thrust their way in to Australian living rooms.

The pensioners’ sexploits found an audience of 458,000 people, according to Nine.

It was the evening’s 26th most watched show and proved most popular in Victoria with 167,000 Melbournians tuning in compared to 113,000 Sydneysiders. Brisbanites proved to be the most prudish with the doco finding an audience of just 55,000 in the Queensland capital.

The documentary introduced viewers to the three call girl grandmothers: 84-year old Sheila, 64-year old Beverly and 57-year old Sophie.

It was a frank account of elderly sex-workers, including the speciality services that the three senior citizens offer to the bizarre requests of their clients.

Viewers were also introduced to the men who pay the golden girls for their services.

Audiences were divided with many taking to Twitter to voice their disgust while others propositioned the women (see below). For more of the Twitter reaction see the feed below.

My Granny The Escort is part of a new series on Nine called Extraordinary Lives. The series will also explore topics including She’s 78, He’s 39 and The Man Who Ate Himself to Death. We’re setting the DVR right now.
