Today Show’s Embarrassing Blunder As They Cross To The Wrong Guest

Nine’s Today show has arguably been in the news this year for all the wrong reasons – Lisa Wilkinson and “Jacketgate” to name just a few.

However, the breakfast show was out to leave 2017 on high yesterday after it did a live cross to completely the wrong guest.

Today news reader Lara Vella announced she was crossing to the commander of the NSW Financial Crime Squad only to find a stunned Lynne Bilston who was supposed to be appearing in a subsequent segment on road safety. To be fair to Ms Bilston she handled the stuff-up with unwavering aplomb.

However, it’s certainly not B&T’s favourite ever on-air blunder. That honour belongs to the magnificent Guy Coma who turned-up to the BBC’s London studios for a job interview and inadvertently found himself live on air talking about litigation after being mistaken for another guest. But rather than ‘fess-up, the wonderful Mr Coma battled on like a right trooper, making international headlines along the way.
