Tuesday TV Wrap: Elton John Doco Proves ‘A Candle In The Wind’ For Nine

Have you ever wondered who’s more popular? The Beatles or Elton John? Well, if Australian OzTAM metro TV numbers are to be believed then it’s the Fab Four hands down.

As reported on B&T yesterday, Nine’s One Night Only – The Beatles In Oz pulled 451,000 viewers on Monday evening. Sadly, it couldn’t replicate those numbers with last night’s Elton John Uncensored that did a lacklustre 354,000.

Not that it was a disaster for Nine, on the back of its 6pm news (1.138 million), ACA (767,000) and The Voice (739,000) the network posted an easy Tuesday night win.

Nine took home 29.4 per cent audience share (all channels). Seven did a neat 26 per cent, 10 had 21.3 per cent, the ABC did 14.2 per cent and SBS mustered 9.1 per cent.

In the battle of the reality shows, MasterChef continues to dominate, again going over the million-mark with 1.01 million. As mentioned, The Voice did 739,000 and Big Brother had 714,000.

Seven’s 6pm news was the most-watched show of the night with 1.208 million. Other standouts for the network were Home And Away (677,000) and The Chase (675,000).

Doers for 10 included The Project (601,000) and 10 News First (444,000).

The ABC’s evening ran thus: 7pm news (871,000), 7.30 (612,000) and Foreign Correspondent (460,000).
