Thursday TV Wrap: The Bachie Sees Off The Cricket, NRL & AFL

In a night of sport, sport and even more sport, 10’s The Bachelor proved love’s not dead, posting 633,000 viewers to be the most watched non-news show of the night.

In the battle for sport honours, Seven’s AFL coverage of the Richmond-Brisbane game did the best with 633,00 according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Interestingly, viewers for the Ashes on 9Gem took a tumble. The first session pulled 396,000 cricket fans, however, that was down 228,000 from day one and is further proof people prefer AFL to cricket.

Some 357,000 viewers hung around to watch Steve Smith score a double-century in the second session.

Nine’s Roosters-Rabbitohs NRL match managed 342,000.

That meant Nine won the night 33.3 per cent audience share (all channels). Seven had 31.7 per cent, 10 did 18.1 per cent, the ABC had 12.7 per cent and SBS was disappointing, managing a mere 4.2 per cent.

Seven’s 6pm news (837,000) was the most watched show of the evening, beating Nine’s version (781,000). ACA did 711,000.

Googlebox did well for 10, posting 607,000, while The Project had 428,000 and 10 News First did 329,000.

The ABC’s Thursday went this way: 7pm news (567,000), 7.30 (461,000) and Escape From The City (342,000).
