South Australia’s Foodland Rated Aussies’ Favourite Supermarket

Foodland – famed for its family-owned stores and catchy jingle, ‘Foodland, the mighty South Aussies, yeah’ – has been named the nation’s number one supermarket.

In their 2021 Supermarket Survey, Choice found that Foodland, which operates primarily in SA but has a store in both the NT and NSW, was number one with a rating of 82 per cent.

It was followed by Drakes, based in SA and QLD, and Harris Farm Markets in NSW.

Choice compared the findings of their 2019 and 2021 surveys, and found that “Foodland customers are still the happiest customers, with this supermarket chain achieving the highest overall satisfaction score in back-to-back surveys.”

Coles and Woolies both rated among the lowest for supermarket satisfaction, but found their ratings increasing from 2019.

Aldi saw its ratings improve across the board, and was also rated number one for value for money.

Back in 2016, Foodland gained attention when their shop in Frewville was awarded the title of best supermarket in the world.

Frewville Foodland is a beloved icon in the Adelaide community, known not just for its fruit and veg, but also for live performances on the piano that sits in the store.
